Let Zimbabwe Inspire You...

There is something particularly special about Zimbabwe… Perhaps it is the fact that it still feels part of the old world in a sense, perhaps it’s that the wilderness still feels untouched by man, or perhaps it is the colourful culture of the Zimbabwean people and the warm hospitality that they give to travellers visiting their beautiful country.

Victoria Falls

A favourite among tourists and locals alike is the village of Victoria Falls. From the moment one lands at the recently refurbished Victoria Falls International Airport, you feel like you have stepped in to another world, and adventure awaits… If you are looking for a fantastic safari opportunity, then the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge is the answer. Situated a mere 4km from one of the Seven Wonders of the World, it is truly an African haven, where luxury meets tradition, the lodge has seven levels, and gives the impression of a vast tree house made out of thatch and timber.

Our favourite location - Victoria Falls Safari Lodge

Victoria Falls Safari Lodge is built on a plateau, with a simply breath-taking view that stretches out all the way to the horizon. The waterhole which is conveniently situated right in front of the lodge is frequently visited by herds of elephants and buffalo among other wildlife. Sip on a delightful cocktail, and enjoy scrumptious snacks from the Buffalo Bar as you watch the last rays of the bright red sun disappear from the sky, from the comfort of the spacious wooden deck.

The Buffalo Bar also offers light meals during the day, to be enjoyed while delighting in some quite reading time, or game watching while lounging by the two-tiered crystal blue swimming pool- a definite favourite spot to be!

Lokothula Lodge – "Lokothula" which means place of peace is most certainly the most fitting way to describe this… It offers two and three bedroom self-catering units, surrounded by beautiful tranquil gardens. Warthog, bushbuck and mongoose are frequent visitors, and a three tiered swimming pool and playground are available to guests staying at Lokothula.

Lokothula Lodge is perfect for those on a budget wanting to experience Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls Safari Lodge also offers some remarkable activities that most could only ever dream of. View the Vulture Culture experience which runs 1pm daily, where hundreds of these endangered birds swoop down to be fed leftover meat scraps from onsite restaurants. The supplementary feeding programme is an effort to help these endangered species to survive. It’s a super opportunity to see white-backed, hooded, white-headed and lapped-faced vultures as well as marabou storks.

Another must do on the agenda, is to get up, close and personal with African wildlife at the Siduli Hide which is located on the edge of the watering hole at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge. The hide resembles a termite mound, and you can sit comfortably concealed while watching the animals from inside through a viewing gap. It’s perfect for keen photographers and wildlife enthusiasts wanting to try one of the very best experiences at the lodge. The best time for this is early morning or late afternoon, and is run by professional guide, Charles Brightman. It’s a two hour experience and is available to groups of up to six.
